Year 4 RE curriculum (Terms 5 and 6)

Term 5: The Mission of the Church

We will be learning about the time in between Easter and the Ascension and what Jesus was doing during this time. Children will learn about the Holy Spirit and how the Church started.

At home you can help your child by:

  • Thinking about forgiveness and the importance of saying sorry and really meaning it
  • Explaining that sometimes doing the right thing is not always easy, but that sometimes we must do difficult things and make hard choices.
  • Talking about the  role of the Pope in our lives as Catholics.

Term 6: Belonging to the Church

Children will be learning what it means to be part of a community and what they can do to help their particular communities work well. They will also be learning about Baptism and the Church’s Seasons.

At home you can help by:

  • Reminding children that they are part of a community or family and that they need to think about how their actions affect the other people who share in their community
  • Encourage children to think about not only what their community, clubs or family can do for them but what they can do to benefit the community.
  • Show your child pictures of their baptism and talk about how special the day was.

Thank you for your support.
