Refugee Week

Fundamental principles of Catholic Social Teaching is Human Dignity and Solidarity. Our work to support refugees is an important part of this.

The school marked Refugee Week with an assembly led by a volunteer from Napier Barracks, where a number of adult refugees are housed in basic conditions. Pupils worked with their buddies to create a huge banner asking “What can we do to help refugees feel safe?” A range of high-quality literature about the plight of refugees was invested in and explored in classes, with responses ranging from artwork to poems and prayers.

Little Amal Project

St Augustine’s also participated in and attended the Little Amal project, raising awareness and reflecting on the plight of refugees through a huge puppet travelling from Syria across Europe.
