Phonics: Unlocking Letters and Sounds
St Augustine's pupils learn to read from day one at school, and their progress is rapid! We teach using a fantastic Phonics programme called "Unlocking Letters and Sounds", supported by books which are carefully matched to the children's phonics knowledge as they progress through the scheme.

Year 6 - The Evil Garden has been our English focus this week and we have been writing a formal letter to apply for the job of head gardener. There has been lots of chatter about the gardens we know from books and film and how to write to persuade for a chance to run of garden of curiosity!
Year 6 Grammar and Punctuation - The children have been very busy revising lots of important Grammar and Punctuation. They are really enjoying creating their own GPS journals to help them remember all the key facts. The important skill of note taking will be vital for them moving forward into secondary school!
